Last Wednesday I was little under the weather so I didn't manage to get my Thursday Thoughts put together, but I'm back this week!

I've got puppy fever. It's bad. It's been so warm in Kansas City the last week, and there are people out with their dogs everywhere. I get so envious, but then I remember how much work puppies can be, and how much I love quick weekend trips. Evie's fine for a few days on her own, but a puppy? Not so much. Who has a dog they want to loan me occasionally? :)

Tootsie rolls are a really underrated candy. I would never think to buy them myself, but we have a big bowl of them in the reception area at work, and I might have had <strike>one</strike> four yesterday afternoon, and they were delicious...but not the fruit flavored ones. Those are gross. Chocolate only.

I really wish Starbucks drinks were more consistent. Gosh I sound like such a bratty, white girl. #firstworldproblems ...but really. Last week I ordered a skinny hazelnut latte, and it was disgusting. So gross in fact, that I ended up pouring half of it down the drain, but yesterday, yesterday I ordered the exact same thing, and it was the most delicious latte ever. What a tough life I have.

Speaking of tough, last Wednesday I had a halo laser treatment in an attempt to get rid of some acne scaring, and good golly that thing was painful. They give you a numbing cream prior to the treatment, but there's nothing quite like the smell of burning skin. Not to mention I looked like a chipmunk for the next two days because my face was so swollen. Cory kept telling me I looked like a Bratz doll. He's so kind like that. I'll spare you any pictures. I'm still peeling pretty bad right now, but I think it helped so fingers crossed my scars are gone!

Do you guys have one position you HAVE to sleep in? Last week after my treatment I was instructed to sleep elevated on my back to prevent swelling, and it was awful. I cannot sleep on my back. I have a Fitbit that tracks sleep, and it said I was restless 37 times. THIRTY SEVEN how is that even possible!?! Oh ya. I was awake the entire night. I sleep on my stomach or not at all apparently. Lord help me if I'm ever pregnant. That will be the longest 9 months of my life.

I'm getting ready to list my house for sale so Cory and I spent Sunday cleaning out my basement (thanks Cory!). We took FOUR car loads of crap to Goodwill, and I still have half a car full of more crap to donate still. I think I was well on my way to becoming a hoarder. At least I wasn't hoarding cats? Have you all seen those people on TV? So disturbing..

This list of 50 Of The Happiest Feelings To Remember On a Bad Day is kinda perfect. Happy Thursday Friends!

While making these won't be quite as easy as plowing through a sleeve of Thin Mints, I promise they are equally (if not more) satisfying and way prettier.

When I made these I was in a bit of a time crunch so I started with a box of Pillsbury Moist Supreme Chocolate cake mix, and just added a teaspoon of mint extract to give them a little extra pizazz. Did the word pizazz make anyone else thing of pizza? I typed that, and then immediately started thinking about how much I wanted to have pizza for dinner tonight. I'm such a fat kid at heart. Anyways, let's get back on topic. Bake as instructed on the cake box in a lined cupcake pan. Set aside, and let cool completely.

Now it's time for the fun part - the mint chocolate buttercream frosting. Here is what you'll need:

Mint Buttercream Frosting

3 cups powdered sugar, sifted

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon mint extract

6-8 drops green food coloring

1 cup semisweet chocolate chunks

In a mixing bowl, beat together the sifted powdered sugar, butter, and salt until smooth. This should only take about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the mint extract and food coloring. Mix for another 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy. Stir in the chocolate chunks by hand to avoid breaking them in the mixer.

Using a large ice cream scoop, scoop some frosting onto the top of each cupcake. It's that simple! Now it's time to enjoy! Happy National Chocolate Mint Day y'all!

Monday's after a three day weekend are even tougher. Monday's after a three day weekend in my favorite city ever are the toughest of all.

Cory and I spent a long weekend in Charleston getting some wedding planning done. In all actuality we were done with the "planning" by noon on Friday, but we'll use any excuse for a trip to Charleston. We did apply for our marriage license, and we met our officiant for the first time (he's wonderful). Other than that, we're leaving the details in the hands of our also wonderful, very-capable wedding planner. I seriously don't know what I would do without her. She's amazing.

The rest of the weekend was spent exploring, eating, happy houring, eating, eating some more, attending SEWE, and celebrating Valentine's Day. I'm so lucky to have found the best travel partner, and partner in general. We have so much fun together, and he's pretty darn cute too. Okay. Done being mushy. The number of new restaurants opening in Charleston constantly is insane, and each one is just as delicious as the next. So not good for my wedding diet, but so worth it. Anyways, rather than bore you with what we ate where, I'll let the pictures do the talking.
I have the day off work tomorrow so today is technically my Friday which I couldn't be happier about! Let's get to Thursday Thoughts!

Ever since my first Whole 30 last year, I've been obsessed with putting avocado in my smoothies. Have you all tried it?!? It makes it so creamy, delicious, and dessert-like. Obviously it isn't as good as a real milkshake, but still good none the less....and now I'm craving a milkshake. There's this fast food restaurant in the South called Cook Out. Midwesterners probably aren't familiar, but if you ever find yourself nearby one, order a peach cobbler milkshake. You will not be disappointed.

Was anyone else super disappointed there wasn't a cute Budweiser Clydesdale and/or dalmatian commercial during the Super Bowl?!? It's my favorite commercial every. single. year. I mean I guess it's a good thing they're trying to advocate against drunk driving, but give me the heart wrenching, lifelong friendship between a Clydesdale and his trainer that still makes me tear up any day. Seriously if that commercial doesn't make you cry just a little I don't think you have a heart.

Speaking of animals and crying, does anyone else full on sob when an animal dies in a movie but barely shed a tear when a human dies? Does this make me a bad person? Probably.

I didn't celebrate National Pizza Day this week, and I'm still regretting it so there's that.

Is anyone giving up something for Lent? I'm not even Catholic, but I usually try to think of something to go without until Easter, but this year I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

I'm so excited for this I can hardly stand it. An 8th Harry Potter installment?!? Best. Summer. Ever.

When my friend Ashley told me what her 3 year old was contemplating for her birthday party theme, I was beyond excited. Cats! Ballerinas! Pink and red! This party was right up my alley!

If you want the perfect sugar cookie my advice would be to check out Sweet Sugar Belle's recipe. Since trying out her recipe I've never looked back. This recipe requires no refrigeration. You hear that?!? The dough doesn't have to be chilled which is a major win for this impatient person...especially considering I bake all my cookies after work, and I'm no night owl.

Recently I found a new royal icing recipe that I think is a keeper. I sorta followed the recipe, but I didn't sift the powdered sugar and added some vanilla and almond extra (because I can't bake anything without adding a little almond). I'd say it was pretty tasty! It does take much, much longer to dry so I usually have to start the cookies a whole day earlier to let them dry before packing them up and sending them on their way, but I think it's worth it. The biggest downside to royal icing is it dries so hard, but this one is much, much better. Try it. I promise it's worth the extra time!

I make them every year, and they're always a hit! They're super easy to make (you don't even need an oven!), and they're just too cute. Who wouldn't want to eat an adorable, chocolaty, Oreo-y, cream cheesy mini football?!?

I assume I've convinced you all to make them at this point so here's what you'll need:

1 package of Oreos

2 large Ziploc bags

8 oz. cream cheese

milk chocolate almond bark

vanilla almond bark

piping bag

Wilton No. 2 or 3 round tip

Empty entire package of Oreos into a Ziploc bag. Make sure to use the entire Oreo (cream included). I've always used original Oreos, but there are so many fun flavors now maybe you could be a little more adventurous! Seal and remove as much air as possible. Place Ziplock bag with Oreos inside the second Ziploc bag.

Grind double bagged Oreos until they are a fine crumb. If you want an arm workout you can use a rolling pin to grind. Usually I'm lazy, and find it more effective to put the bag on the kitchen floor, and do a little jig. It's a lot faster, and your arms won't be sore the next day. :) Another option would be to forget the Ziplock bags, and use a food processor if you're lucky enough to have one of those. Unfortunately I do not, but it is at the top of my wedding registry wish list!

Once the Oreos are crumbled, empty into a large bowl and mix with the entire package of cream cheese. Once a "dough" has formed roll into mini footballs, and place on a cookie sheet. I've found the footballs are much easier to coat in almond bark if you place them in the fridge or freezer for 30 minutes or so.

While the footballs are chilling, melt milk chocolate almond bark in the microwave in 30 second increments. Make sure to stir between each time to avoid burning the chocolate. Coat footballs in milk chocolate. I usually get two small spoons and kind of transfer the football back and forth between the two to remove the excess chocolate. Place on a baking sheet and let cool for a few minutes.

Melt white chocolate almond bark in the same manner, and place in a decorating bag fitted with a Wilton No. 2 or 3 tip. Pipe laces and seams on football, and voila! You now have THE cutest Super Bowl dessert to take with you to your watch party! Enjoy!
Happy Thursday! I'm probably going to make this short and sweet because I have a lot of baking projects to finish up this evening, but I didn't want to leave you hanging...all 7 of you!

Ummm how cute are these donut cookies?!? I think they might be my most favorite cookies I've ever made.

Can we talk about the Bachelor for a second? It drives me absolutely nuts when they end an episode before the rose ceremony. I've already wasted TWO hours of my life watching so the least you could do is show me the 5 minutes I really care about. But noooooo, now we have to wait until next week to see if evil Olivia gets what she deserves. I'm guessing she doesn't, but one can always hope.

Every time I'm at the gym, I have a fear that somehow my headphones are going to come unplugged, and my music will blare out loud for everyone to hear. I'm pretty sure I would be mortified if anyone heard what I listen to while I'm running (or let's be honest, lately walking). Hint: there are lots of show tunes, 90's rap, and of course, T. Swift.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, I don't think I will ever tire of 1989. Such. Good. Songs. I've been having solo dance parties in my kitchen every night this week while working on baking projects. I'm so cool.

I wish I was talented enough to flat iron curl my hair. My hair stylist makes it look SO easy. She's tried to show me more times than I can count yet it never quite works when I try it at home. Fail.

Cory was getting so frustrated with me on Saturday trying to take the previous picture. Doesn't he know lighting and angles are everything?! He's going to have to learn to be a better Instagram husband once we tie the knot in July. Hah! Kidding...kind of...

Has anyone read any good books lately? I was really on a roll last year reading at least one book a month, but so far I've been slacking in 2016. Any suggestions are welcome!

Have a great day everyone!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I got a new job this past Fall, and one of the major perks is I get to try lots and lots of beauty products. I may or may not have almost an entire linen closet filled with different products so I thought it might be fun for me to share a few with you every month that I'm absolutely loving right now.

Ren Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial ($60) - This is by far my favorite product I've tried in a lonnnnng time. At least 3 times a week, after washing my face I apply this before a moisturizer. It has a slight tingly feeling for a minute or so, but I swear to you, you'll notice a difference after even one application. My skin looks so much brighter and even toned in the morning after using this. It's a miracle worker!

L'Occitane Divine Cream ($110) - This anti-aging cream is, well, divine! It's a little pricey, but I've been using this on my face/neck/décolleté, and I really have noticed a difference. Plus, it smells wonderful. I love drifting off to sleep to this calming scent.

Lush Bath Bombs ($4-9) - My lovely sister got me an assortment of these for my birthday, and the amount of baths I've taken recently have increased exponentially. Baths > showers in my opinion, and bath bombs make them that much greater. Who doesn't love taking a pink bath?! I've tried several at this point that all smell wonderful and leave your skin feeling great.

Too Faced Cat Eyes Ferociously Feminine Eye Shadow and Liner Collection ($36) - Okay obviously I love this one because it has a reference to cats, but besides that, the colors in this palette are so pretty. You can use them wet or dry (which really doubles the amount of colors), and you can easily create a light, pretty look for daytime or a sexier, darker look for going out at night. Meow! It also comes with a nifty little how-to guide for creating three different looks.

glominerals Contour Kit ($36) - If you haven't jumped on board the strobing bandwagon just yet, let this contour kit be your introduction. I love this set because it comes in two different shades fair to light or medium to dark, and each kit has 2 shades of bronzer and 2 highlighters. One highlighter is shimmery and the other is more matte so you can use it for a more subtle look as well. It even has a nice little diagram right on the package so you can easily see which products you should put where in order to achieve the best results. I can most definitely tell a difference (especially in pictures) when I've contoured my face. I've always thought my face looks quite round, but when I use this kit, hellllllllllllllooooo cheekbones! I almost feel like a Kardashian. Hah!

Smashbox Photo Finish 24 Hour Shadow Primer<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;"> ($20) - I had never used eye shadow primer until I received a little sample in my Birchbox several years ago, and I don't know how I went 10+ years of my make-up wearing adult life without it. Eye shadow primer is a life changer. So dramatic I know, but if you want your shadow to stay put all day and to avoid getting those dreaded creases mid-day you've got to try this product. It's well worth the $20.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy ($12) - I love, love, love this stuff. My lips are always so dry in the winter, and this really keeps them moisturized without being too glossy or sticky.

Hempz Age Defying Herbal Moisturizer ($24.99) - If you can look past the giant marijuana leaf on the bottle, this lotion is actually really great. They have a bunch of different varieties, and they all leave your skin moisturized but not greasy. I'm very particular about how a lotion makes my skin feel, and this brand is the best. I think the Triple Moisture is actually my fave, but Age Defy comes in a close second. Even Cory likes this lotion because the scents aren't too overpowering so men can use them too. All Hempz 17 oz. lotions are actually on sale right now for 1 more week at $10.99 so if you want to try 'em out, now's the time! They also have little mini bottles so if you want to test out a few different kinds and see which is your favorite that's another option.

I could easily keep going with at least 25 more products, but I suppose I should save some for next month! What beauty products can you not live without?

I went to Target last week to buy a few groceries and miscellaneous household items, but came out with a swimsuit (in January when I have no warm vacations planned), Valentine's day socks, a zillion Valentine's Day decorations, and Valentine's Day candy...when I'm doing Whole 30. Why did I think that was a good idea? Peanut m&ms have been tempting me all week. So far I've stayed strong, but we'll see if I make it through the weekend. Also, Target takes all my money. I shouldn't be allowed in there by myself with unlimited time to browse.

I need to stop watching weeknight KU basketball games. I think I'm bad luck. On Monday KU was winning literally the entire time until I turned it on. Guess I need to stick to the Bachelor on Monday's.

I stayed up until 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday working on a puzzle sooooo there's that.

I'm a little scared to confess this for fear of being shunned by the entire blogger and health community, but I cannot get on board with kale. I don't know how many times I've ordered a kale salad hoping this time I would love it, but I just don't. I can't. It's so strong tasting. I bought kale slaw salad mix and kale chips on my weekly Trader Joe's run this week, and regretfully I can't say I've fallen madly in love with either.

Ohhhhh to grow up in a family of three girls! Pretty sure I can relate to all of these photos unfortunately (or fortunately. Love you Mandy and Brooke haha). Be sure to check out these 18 Photos That Won't Make Sense to Sisterless Families if you have sisters! Those scratch marks bring back memories for sure. The amount of fights we had over who was on who's side of the car on road trips, who got the computer during prime AOL hours, and who stole who's clothes will never be forgotten.

It's almost scary how perfectly this list of 11 Things Every 'Type A' Person Wants You to Know describes me. I'd rather die than be late (I'm habitually 15 minutes early to almost everything), and I seriously couldn't function without my to-do list. My nervous habit? If you know me at all then you definitely know it's playing with my ring...and dropping said ring. :)

Everything is pink and girly and cute and well, you get the picture. Now, while I wouldn't classify this particular treat as cute, it is super easy to make and requires no cooking. All you need is a microwave! Easy enough right?

Okay so here is what you'll need:

5 oz. white almond bark or candy melts

5 oz. red or pink candy melts

5 cups Chex cereal

1/2 cup strawberry cake mix

1/2 cup powdered sugar

SPRINKLES! lots and lots of sprinkles!

Valentine's m&ms (optional)

Divide the Chex cereal into two bowls (2 1/2 cups in each bowl). I usually opt for Rice Chex, but really any kind will do.

Place the white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, and slowly start to melt in 30 second increments. Make sure to stir between each so the chocolate doesn't burn. It can be quite finicky! Once melted, add to the Chex cereal and lightly stir to coat evenly. Add 1/2 cup powdered sugar and some sprinkles. Again, lightly stir to evenly coat.

Repeat the exact same process with the red or pink candy melts, strawberry cake mix, and (duh) more sprinkles!

Allow both to dry completely, and then combine for the most perfectly delicious Valentine's Day puppy chow! If you want to get really crazy, you can even throw in some Valentine's Day m&ms. Personally, I like it without the m&ms, but I'm not real big on chocolate. I know I'm crazy. Enjoy!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15573312293710418471noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4401319824740053980.post-16085318602629475542016-01-21T04:00:00.000-06:002016-01-21T04:00:34.880-06:00I'm back!

Hi friends! It’s been awhile….like months. So as some of you
may have noticed, the website I had been using no longer exists. Life got busy.
I started a new job in September that has basically consumed my life for the
last 5 months (but I love it!), and when my site expired I honestly didn’t even
notice for a reeeeeeally long time,
and then when I did notice it wasn’t a top priority. Anyways, long story short,
everything is gone. Wah wah. They can’t recover any of the content so I guess
the last year of my life didn’t really happen. Does that make me 29 again?!? <span style="font-family: "wingdings"; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J I wish. Anyways, I’ve
decided that rather than pay for a domain name and hosting and all that
nonsense, I’m just going to go old school, and use jendoebakes.blogspot.com
again. Cool? Cool. Maybe at some point I’ll try to get everything updated on
this site (maybe I can convince my dear friend Ashley
to help me. Hi Ashley). Until then you’ll just have to live with the old name
and a super outdated picture and a profile that says I’m 26.

Okay so let’s see. What have I been up to since we last
talked?! I’ve been working a lot. I tried to start the BBG program, but failed miserably. I went on a few vacations (Charleston, Chicago, Tuscaloosa, Oklahoma City, Portland, Cancun/Tulum). I did some wedding planning. I turned 30. I baked a
lot. I celebrated the holidays with my family, and most recently, I started
another round of Whole 30 because I basically went the entire month of December
eating whatever I wanted and not working out at all. Hello wedding diet. If you
want a full recap and to see what I’m up to on a daily basis you can follow me
on Instagram. <span style="font-family: "wingdings"; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-char-type: symbol; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-symbol-font-family: Wingdings;">J

I’ll try to get some updated recipe posts on here asap. The
good thing is my weekends are pretty wide open since I can’t go eat delicious
meals (of course it’s Kansas City restaurant week) right now or go out drinking
(not that I do that a whole lot anyways) so there’s plenty of time for blogging…and
doing jigsaw puzzles. Seriously. I just bought two last weekend. Buy 1 get 1
50% off at Barnes and Noble in case anyone is wondering! Okay, I’ll stop my
rambling, and leave you with a few Thursday Thoughts just like old times.

I hate the cold. I’m over winter, and I have a
feeling it’s only just getting started. After Cory and I get married we’re
moving South. Peace out snow and ice and single digit temps.

I just discovered that my planner for this year
has inspirational quotes every day. Kind of obsessed. Today’s is “Always do
what you are afraid to do.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson. I’d say that’s a good one. Wouldn’t
you?

Speaking of planners, does anyone else have to
use a good old fashioned paper planner? I understand that it’s 2016, and there
are these things called cell phones with digital calendars built in, but I just
can’t get on board with that. Maybe it’s my type A, OCD personality, but I like
being able to write things down and cross them off. Putting a little check next
to items on a screen just doesn’t give me the same level of satisfaction.

I found a new royal icing recipe last night
which I’m super excited about. When I
bake cookies, not only do I want them to look pretty, but I actually want them
to taste good too. Is that too much to ask? Most royal icing dries SO hard. I
feel like I’m going to chip a tooth biting into one. I think this recipe might have
finally solved that issue. Only problem is I’m doing Whole 30 right now so I
can’t taste test. Guess I found an excuse to bake some Valentine’s Day cookies
in 11 days.

You know what else is really unfortunate? I won a Black Card from Doughnut Lounge last Fall which is probably like the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. I get one free donut a day FOR LIFE. Every. Single Day. Pretty amazing. Unfortunately I only made it there once before starting Whole 30. I don't think donuts are on my wedding diet either, but I may have to make a few exceptions because let's face it, life it better with donuts.

This has turned into quite a long post so I guess I'll sign off for the day. Have a great day everyone!

Clean sheets are one of the best things on earth. There's just something about crawling into soft sheets that smell like fresh meadows and rain. Mmmmmmmm. Comfy cozy.

Speaking of beds and sleeping, a few days ago I had a less than stellar night of sleep. I had a dream...let me correct myself, a horrible, horrible nightmare...I woke up and my bottom teeth were SO crooked. I'm talking couldn't even attempt to wedge my bottom retainer back in, snaggletooth crooked. They were the kind of crooked that could only be fixed by a second round of braces. The horror! I woke up in a cold sweat. Luckily, my bottom retainer was in place, and my teeth were still relatively straight. Phew. You can all exhale in relief now.

You know what is almost as gross as crooked teeth? Playoff beards. Woof. I'm sorry, but all these baseball players look so dirty. It's time to shave boys so we can see those pretty little faces of yours...and while we're at it, let's just all forget about no-shave November this year. 5 o'clock shadows = sexy. Full beards = creepy.

How I just recently discovered Trader Joe's macarons is a mystery to me, but they are fabulous. I wish I could buy an entire package of the pistachio flavored ones. So yummy. Good thing they only stay good for 2 days after you thaw them out. Thank you TJs for an excuse to eat an entire package of cookies in 48 hours.

I do not, I repeat, do not understand people who like 20 of my Instagram pictures in a row yet do not follow me. If you like that many of my pictures I've already taken won't you like them in the future?! Don't think for a second I'm going to start following you. Doesn't work like that. Sorry.

You guys. I cannot take vegan leather jackets. I mean really, they are just plastic, pleather, PVC jackets. Why is everyone trying to make them sound way fancier than they really are?! Putting the words vegan and leather together is a contradiction. If you are vegan, you don't wear leather. You wear PVC. It is a plastic jacket. Let's call it that.

So I did just buy myself a real leather jacket a few weeks ago, and wouldn't you know I've already spilled all over it. Last week I was getting out of my car at work (in the rain), and I dropped my badge. I went to bend down and pick it up and being the dummy I am, I forgot I had a smoothie in my hand. I somehow managed to dump almost the entire smoothie into and down the front of my purse and coat sleeve. I am such a klutz. I should probably stick to pleather.

You didn't think I would let an entire Thursday Thoughts go by without mentioning Taylor Swift did you?!? No way. No how. It is album release week, and boy is it a good one! If you haven't listened to 1989 I highly suggest getting up and driving your butt to Target right this second. Seriously. Stop reading this and go! If you have heard it, bravo. You can vote for your favorite track here, and if you're crazy like me you can take this quiz to see which Taylor Swift album you are.

I hate to say I am, but I did get pretty excited when I saw the new pumpkin section at Trader Joes today. I absolutely could not leave without a box of This Pumpkin Walks Into the Bar... Probably just because they had a fun name, but whatever. I had one for dinner tonight, and they were delicious. Yea. I'm healthy I know.

Anyways, speaking of pumpkin, you have to try these pumpkin crumble muffins. They are the perfect blend of pumpkin and sweetness. They aren't over the top, I think I just gave myself a cavity sweet, but just sweet enough so you can eat one for breakfast and not feel too guilty.
Scoop mixture into prepared muffin pan (I added a heaping ¼ cup batter to each liner), and set aside.

To make pumpkin crumble, combine flour, brown sugar, sugar, pumpkin pie spice and salt, Stir to combine. Add melted butter and stir with a fork until crumbs form. Spoon crumble onto muffins pressing lightly on each. In my opinion, you can never have too much crumble. It's obviously the best part.

Bake for 20 minutes, and then cover with foil and bake for another 5 minutes until a toothpick inserted into muffin comes out clean. Cool and dust with powdered sugar. Don't forget the powder sugar dusting. It is essential. I fed one to Cory without the powdered sugar, and he thought they were too plain, but with the powdered sugar, mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm. Enjoy!
We'll see. Since it's Fall, and there are yummy things I want to cook and bake I'll give it another shot, but first, Thursday Thoughts.

The coffee at work has got to be the grossest thing ever. I can usually stomach it with the help of a pack of Splenda, but this morning I couldn't find any in the break room so I was forced to drink it black. The faces I made after every sip were probably pretty comical. Thank goodness for the privacy of my high cube walls.

My phone knows me too well. A few weeks ago I was texting Cory and my phone autocorrected to Iwanttobeacat. No joke.

I'm giving up on eBay. I bought some boots last week, and I was so excited for them, but alas I took them out of the box on Monday morning, and they were both for the left foot. Wah wah. They also didn't zip over my enormous calves, but that is beside the point. What a great way to start the week right? Two left feet and I have fat calves. Awesome. I will never buy anything on eBay again. Really...even if it is a really, really good deal.

If you live in Kansas and you go to Louisburg Cider Mill this Fall then you must order a Cyclone. You guys - apple cider slushy, soft serve vanilla ice cream, and crumbled, warm apple cider donut. It is probably the most indulgent thing ever and probably the most delicious. Order it. Seriously.

To what type of event could I wear these shoes? I really want an excuse to buy some. Too. Freaking. Cute.

Traveling so much this past year has made me realize I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to airports and flying. Let's talk about baggage claim. Is it really necessary to get as close as humanly possible to the conveyor belt? How about we all stand a reasonable 5 feet back so that everyone can see the bags. Genius right?

Speaking of traveling, I swear Cory walks more than any human being. My Fitbit (and my poor little feet) work overtime whenever we vacation. I mean on Friday in New Orleans I walked more than a half marathon. Madness I tell ya...and that is how I rationalized eating my weight in beignets all weekend.

Can we all just agree that The Mindy Project is the best show on TV right now? Last week my roommates and I replayed Diamond Dan's little strip tease at least 3 times. I mean....no words. Also, can Mindy Kaling and I hurry up and meet each other so we can become BFF's?!?

Does anyone else religiously enter the HGTV Dream Home/Urban Oasis/whatever they are called these days contests? I enter twice a day every single day. Surely I will win eventually right??

Well I'm a few days late since my half birthday was on Saturday, but let's take a look at how I'm doing on my list of yearly goals. I have a feeling I've probably been slacking...

Blog at least once a week. - Major fail. Whoops.

<strike>No alcohol or sweets for a month. The alcohol part? That will be easy. The sweets? Lord help me</strike>. Completed no alcohol for the month of January. I also attempted to do no sweets but cheated the first weekend so I had to start over on January 6th, but I can happily say I made it the entire month until February 6th! Go me!

<strike>Find a church to attend. This must happen this year</strike>. - I haven't actually joined a church, but I've tried out a few different ones and I think I like Old Mission United Methodist Church the best so I'm going to say this counts. Now to start going every single week...

Get my new website up and running. - Hopefully Cory isn't reading this. Still haven't gotten around to this yet. My goal is to have it finished by the end of the summer.

Buy/hang curtains in my living room and bedroom. - Nope. Too busy spending money on plane tickets.

Take photography lessons. - Nope.

Take a Bikram yoga class. - Nope.

Travel abroad. Europe. Mexico. Canada. Wherever! - Not yet. I think Cory and I are talking about taking a trip in December right before Christmas so hopefully I can get this one checked off then.

<strike>Increase my savings account by changing my automatic funds transfer from $50 to $100 a week</strike>. Completed January 1, 2014 which means my savings has grown by at least $5,200 this year.

<strike>Walk at least 10,000 steps every day for a month. I just got a Fit Bit for Christmas so I'm kind of obsessed</strike>. :) - Did this one in combination with the no sweets. Completed Jan 6-Feb 6.

Call a friend I haven't talked to in awhile on the way home from work at least once a week. - Kinda? Probably not every week.

<strike>Say "I love you" more and mean it.</strike>

Eat a paleo or low carb diet for a month. Again, this will be very difficult for a carb lover like myself. - Still need to do this. I've been contemplating doing the Whole 30 Challenge. Ashley is motivating me.

Read 12 books - (1) Allegiant by Veronica Roth, (2) Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape by Jenna Miscavige Hill, (3) Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, (4) Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell,

Try 12 new recipes (bonus points if they aren't desserts). - (1) Funfetti Gooey Cake Bars, (2) Fruity Greek Yogurt Chicken Salad, (3) Biggest Loser Oatmeal Pancakes, (4) Key Lime Cookie Cups, (5) Buffalo Blue Cheese Chicken Tacos, (6) Funfetti Sugar Cookie Cake

<strike>Visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This one is kind of cheating because C and I are already planning on going there in March, but I've wanted to go forever so whatever. This one's a freebie!</strike> - Completed on 3/3/14. It. Was. AMAZING. You all must go and bring me back a butterbeer!

Milk a cow. Random you may say? It sounds fun...and I just really want to visit Shatto Milk Company sometime this year. I might die of happiness if I'm able to bottle feed a baby cow. Soooo stinkin' cute! - Nope.

Sing karaoke. - Nope.

Buy a house plant and keep it alive for 6 months. Let's be honest. There is no way it will live for year. Baby steps. - I've bought some succulents. I bought five different plants, and I've already lost one. Fingers crossed the remaining four can hold out for another 5 months and 2 weeks.

<strike>Swim with manatees or dolphins</strike>. - Swam with manatees in Crystal River, FL on 3/2/14.

Go for a hot air balloon ride. - Nope.

Send snail mail to a friend or family member each month. I know I had this same idea last year, but I failed miserably, and I always love getting fun mail so it's time to return the favor. - Nope.

Buy my parents dinner. - Nope.

Have a garage sale to get rid of everything still boxed up in the basement. If I haven't used it in almost a year I really don't need to keep hanging on to it. - Nope.

Buy a piece of jewelry that signifies all I've achieved so far. - Nope.

Take a spinning class. - Nope.

<strike>Try 12 new restaurants</strike>. - (1) Ichiban, (2) La Bodega, (3) Azteca Family Mexican, (4) Maverick's Grille, (5) El Palacio De Los Jugos, (6) Grand Cafe, (7) Egan & Sons, (8) The Granary, (9) Bowens Island, (10) Taco Boy, (11) Poogan's Porch, (12) Bay Street Biergarten, (13) High Cotton, (14) The Ordinary, (15) Triangle Char and Bar, (16) Five Loaves Café, (17) Pane e Vino, (18) Taco Mamacita, (19) Edmund's Oast

Visit at least one state I've never been to. - Nope.

Hold a snake. I didn't have enough courage to do this last year. Maybe 29 is the lucky year? We shall see. - Definitely not.

Eh. Whatever. It's Thursday! Only one more day until the glorious weekend!

I'm totally 100% in love with South Carolina. It's perfect (besides the humidity). I am going to be very, very sad when I don't have a reason to go there every few weeks.

Speaking of South Carolina, Cory and I went to Middleton Plantation a few weeks ago, and I would just like to say I saw TWO snakes and didn't have to leave immediately. Was I on pins and needles the remainder of the time and did I jump five feet every time I saw a black stick? Absolutely. Still. I didn't freak out too bad. I'm proud of myself.

Not commuting an hour to work anymore is ah-maze-ing. Seriously. I feel like I have so much more free time for activities and things. Oh ya. I guess I should fill you all in. If you didn't already know, I finally got a job in Kansas City so no more commuting to Payless every day! It was a great 3+ years, and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything, but I'm excited for this new chapter.

I'm fairly certain the post office is the most inefficient place on Earth. I ordered a fairly expensive purse on eBay awhile ago and was skeptical on whether or not I would even receive it. I was a little antsy about being scammed so I was tracking that thing like a hawk. When I went to pick it up at the post office there was a line out the door. The workers proceeded to separate us into two different lines so if we were just picking up a package we could get through faster. I was literally in line for FORTY FIVE minutes while the worker moved slow as molasses in my line. When it was finally my turn the lady was in the back for a good 10 minutes only to return and say she couldn't find my package, and I would need to go check my house to make sure they didn't leave it at my door (even though the computer said it was at the post office). As I was walking out the door a guy came running out from the back with my purse. That is an hour of my life I will never get back, but on the bright side, I got my purse!

I am so glad it is Spring and frozen yogurt season! I've had it for dinner several times already. Don't judge me.

I love Spring and all but holy ant infestation! What is the deal with these nasty little creatures invading my house?! I would take spiders any day over ants. Raid has become my best friend.

While I'm complaining, is it really necessary to put your marital status in your Instagram bio?! I get it. You're married. You have two "fur babies". I could have learned these fun facts by looking at your pictures which are all of you and your dogs and your husband. Fantastic.

I can't get enough iced coffee. I have a serious addiction. If I do nothing else this weekend, I will make it to The Roasterie to try the Beach Time Toddy. I'm sure it is several hundred calories but it is probably so so worth it.

I really want a pet squirrel. Random you may say? I've had an obsession with them ever since college. I used to feed them little packages of peanut butter outside the sorority house. One even climbed up my pant leg...twice...in the matter of a few minutes. I can't make these things up. Does anyone know where I can find a cute baby one I can raise domestically? Is this even allowed? I'm only half joking...

Rather than making boring ol' cookies, I decided to get a little creative with some key lime cookie cups. These were relatively simple to make, and they tasted great. Not to mention they were a cute mini snack that I didn't feel quite as guilty eating. Okay, here is what you'll need:

Key Lime Cookie Cups

1 box Pillsbury Key Lime cookie mix (and ingredients noted on box)
1 jar Pillsbury Key Lime frosting
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
3 T sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
1 lime

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Start by placing graham crackers in a Ziplock bag. Use a rolling pin to create crumbs. Mix together with sugar and melted butter in a small bowl. Next, prepare cookie mix as directed. For the life of me I cannot remember what additional ingredients you have to add to the cookie mix. I want to say butter and maybe an egg or two? Forgive me. I threw away the box last week, and there is no way I'm going to go rummaging through the garbage. :)

Next, in a mini muffin pan, place a heaping teaspoon of graham cracker crust in each cup. Use the back of the teaspoon to press the crumbs into the bottom firmly. Scoop cookie dough (about 1 tablespoon) on top of the graham cracker crust.

Place in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. After you remove the cookies from the oven, use the back of a teaspoon to press the cookies into the cups. Allow them to cool for several minutes. If you skip this step your crust will get stuck in the pan, and you'll be one sad baker. I'm impatient so I put the entire pan into the freezer for 5-10 minutes, and the cookie cups easily came out of the pan afterwards.

Once cooled, pipe key lime frosting onto each cookie cup with a star tip. Top with fresh grated lime zest or your favorite green sprinkles. Enjoy!

I recently started reading Two Thirds Hazel. Yesterday she had a link up for 32 things that make her happy. Since I've recently been lacking the motivation and creativity to blog I figured this sounded fun. So here we go - here are 32 things that make me happy.

Rainy, stormy days. Big thunderstorms are my absolute favorite. Call me crazy, but I like dreary days better than sunny ones.

Target. This one needs no explanation.

Brunch.

Waking up at 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. and realizing that I still have several hours left to sleep. Best. Feeling. Ever.

The beach. Doesn't matter which beach it is. The beach is my happy place.

Going for a walk on the beach first thing in the morning. It might be the most soothing thing ever. I will live on the beach someday.

Basically every show on Bravo. Judge me all you want, but that stuff is entertaining. My newest obsession? Southern Charm. I really want Cameran to be my BFF.

Donuts and mimosa for breakfast...or really anytime!

Knowing that I have a clean house. Surfaces dusted. Floors mopped and vacuumed. Clutter put away. Yes I'm OCD. Yes I like everything in it's right place.

Trips with Cory, and really traveling in general. Lucky for me, Cory travels a lot and lets me tag along.

SPIN! Pizza. I do this thing where I'm obsessed with one restaurant at a time (usually for a few months), and then I move on. However, I've been on the SPIN! train for quite awhile now. If you live in KC, are ever visiting KC, even driving through KC you should go eat there. Order the Mama Mia with a Spinaci e Aglio pizza and a Sonoma salad (dressing on the side). You won't be disappointed I promise.

Nashville - both the city and the TV show.

Snuggling with my Eves. Crazy cat lady fo-eva!

Clean sheets. Are you beginning to see a trend? I like clean things.

CHRISTMAS time! Well really Halloween to NYE is the best time of the year. There are so many holidays, so much family and friends, and some time off work. My birthday also happens to fall during this time period so it's basically the greatest.

Christmas trees.

Traditions that go along with holidays. Handing out Valentine's. Dying Easter eggs. Taking sparkler pictures with my sisters on the 4th. Going to the pumpkin patch. Making gingerbread houses. Etc. Etc.

Sitting in the sauna after a nice, long workout.

Ice cream. You can't tell me that a waffle cone and a scoop of your favorite flavor doesn't make you deliriously happy.

New highlights. It's amazing how much prettier you feel after a hair appointment, even if it's just a trim.

Family vacations. There haven't been near enough of these lately with my sisters still and school, and my mom, dad and I working, but they are great...and this picture is even greater.

Taylor Swift. You can tell me over and over that I'm too old to be obsessed with every single one of her songs, and I'll tell you over and over that I don't care. She is a brilliant song writer. End of story.

Wedding cake. Hands down it is my most favorite part of a wedding.

Instagram, and well really, pictures in general. Maybe it's annoying that I document everything, but in 20 years or even 20 hours I love looking back at what I've photographed.

All carbs.

Shellac/gel nail polish. Gone are the days wasting time waiting for nails to dry.

Group iMessages with friends.

Watching someone open a gift that I put a lot of thought into, and seeing their excitement.

Pumpkin flavored everything in the Fall.

All baby animals. I was going to say puppies and kittens, but really, what little baby fluffy thing isn't adorable?

Theta.

Having a drink on a patio on a warm Saturday afternoon in the Spring or Fall. Bonus points if that drink is a margarita.

Don't worry. We were both too full for dessert the night of his birthday so I made him light his cigar with a birthday candle, and suffer through me singing Happy Birthday so he could blow out a candle and make a wish. Hey. We had to improvise.

Fortunately, he was back in Kansas the following weekend so I had a chance to redeem myself with these baked apple apple pies. You guys. These things were yummy, and I felt a little less guilty eating this than a giant slice of cake. Don't worry though. I loaded mine up with ice cream. I can't be too healthy. Here is what you will need to make these when you decide you need them. Because you will.

Baked Apple Apple Pies
serves 4

5-6 Granny Smith apples
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
pie crust (homemade or pre-made)

Optional (but not really):
vanilla ice cream

First things first. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Next cut the top off of 4 apples. Remove the inside of each apple with a spoon or melon baller. Be sure not to puncture the peel. I highly suggest using a melon baller. I don't own one so I used a knife and spoon, and it was touch and go there for awhile on whether I would make it out with all my fingers in tact.

Now it's time to move onto the filling. If you are good at hollowing apples you can use the inside for the filling. If not, use those other 2 apples you bought. Remove skin from remaining apple, and slice very thin. Mix sliced apples with sugars and cinnamon in a bowl. You can add more or less sugar and cinnamon to taste. I opted for a little more brown sugar :) Scoop filling into the hollowed apples.

If you bought pre-made pie crust (which I did), this next part is easy. Roll out and slice into 1/4 inch strips. Cover the top of the apple in a lattice pattern or any other way you so choose.

Place apples in an 8 x 8 in pan, and add enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
Remove from oven and serve immediately. I put mine in a bowl with a big ol' scoop of Edy's Slow Churned Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, and it was to die for! Enjoy!

So I took a brief...ok several month...well actually now that I'm thinking about it, half year, hiatus from running because my knees were bothering me so much. It got to the point where I could barely even walk down a flight of stairs it hurt so bad. Of course I didn't go to the doctor so I'm not sure what the actual problem was, but after attempting (and failing) to train for the Kansas City Half Marathon I decided it might be best to stop running for awhile. It was actually perfect timing because this winter has been horrible, and I'm such a baby about running outside in cold weather.

Now that the weather is getting a little warmer (although it was 70 on Saturday and I woke up to snow yesterday morning. Dumb Kansas), I think it's time to start running again.

Cory and I are signed up for the Cooper River Bridge Run 10K on April 5th so I suppose I should have been training for awhile now. I think I've come to the conclusion that this race will not be a personal best, and I will most likely be much, much slower than I was last June. The few times I have "ran" in the last few months, I did a lot of run/walking and was around a 9:30-10:00 min/mile so I'm just hoping to finish this race in an hour. Fingers crossed. Hopefully some of Cory's speed will rub off on me haha! :)

I feel like I need to follow the last bit of training program for the next 3 weeks so I can hold myself accountable. Does anyone have a favorite 10K training program they love? I've always used Hal Higdon programs so I thought I might try the 10K Intermediate Program, but if anyone has any other suggestions they would be much appreciated! Are you training for any races right now? I'd love to hear which ones and how your training is going!
Here's the deal. You post 11 random facts about yourself, answer 11 questions by the nominating blogger, nominate 11 bloggers you think bring sunshine into the world, and come up with 11 questions to ask them. Here are my 11 random facts:

I eat eggs almost every night for dinner Monday-Thursday - always scrambled, sometimes with spinach, feta cheese, and red onion. I'm a creature of habit.

Nothing annoys me more than when my couch cushions are all slouchy and smashed looking. Ok I lied. Maybe that isn't the thing that annoys me the most, but it's definitely up there.

perfectly fluffed

I HATE being barefoot. The only time I'm barefoot is when I'm on a beach or in the pool. I would say in the shower as well, but at the gym I obviously wear extremely stylish Croc flip flops. Yup. I still technically wear Crocs at least 4-5 times a week.

I sleep in socks. I once had a boyfriend tell me that it was unhealthy to sleep in socks because toxins weren't able to escape during the night. I call that horse crap. My feet get cold, and like I said, I hate being barefoot.

I still wear my retainers. My orthodontist should be proud.

I'm obnoxiously peppy in the morning. Right when my feet hit the floor (always in slippers) I am 100% awake and ready to take on the day. I don't understand people who take hours to wake up before they are fully functioning.

I'm a really fast walker. My friends used to make fun of me in middle school and high school because I would walk so fast during passing periods between classes. I still walk fast, but I've recently learned I walk at snail speed compared to Cory. I just can't keep up with him!

I have an obsession with McDonald's Vanilla Cones. I eat them at least 2-3 times a week. They're only 170 calories, 4.5g of fat, and cost $1 (plus tax)! That's a steal if you ask me!

typical night - me in the McDonald's drive thru getting ice cream by myself. Shameful.

I met my boyfriend on Tinder. The cat's out of the bag...not that it was really a secret, but now you know. I actually blocked him because he told me I lived in the suburbs which I apparently found very offensive after an afternoon of cocktails. Anyways, he found me on Facebook, apologized, and the rest is history.

I never get sick of food pictures on Instagram. I love them all. Is it weird that I'm fascinated by what other people are eating? I just really like pretty food.

I really, really hate talking on the phone. Thank goodness for text messages and emails.

...and now if you're still with me, here are the questions Alex asked me:

What would your perfect night consist of? Well it definitely depends on the night of the week. If it's a "school night" (because let's be honest, that's what they'll always be called - not work nights) then my perfect night is getting in a good work out, eating a quick dinner at home, and then heading to bed early, preferably around 9:00. Yes I'm a grandma. If it's a Friday or Saturday night then my perfect night includes going out for a long, yummy dinner with friends or family, followed by a few cocktails at a fun bar, or if I'm feeling really wild and crazy, some board or card games at home. Maybe even dominoes! I also enjoy a good jigsaw puzzle. Wow. I am so cool.

If you could meet any person (living or dead) who would it be? Taylor Swift. I really think we are destined to be BFFs..if only we could meet. Sigh.

What do you do for a living, and what do you like most about it? I'm a merchandise planner which basically means I build financial plans to decide how much we are going to sell, how much inventory we need to do it, and how much we can put on sale in order to still make money. I get to decide what shoes go on sale, how much they will be, and when. Kinda fun right? It certainly never gets boring, and there is always craziness so I guess that keeps things interesting!

Do you have pets, and if so, what are their name(s)/age(s)? Well if you read this blog at all, or follow me on Instagram you are probably aware I have one cat. Her name is Evie, and she is perfect. I got her from an ex-boyfriend when I was in high school so she's been around for 10 years now.

What's your favorite food? There is no way I can pick just one. I'm obsessed with Mexican food (queso specifically), and I can absolutely never get sick of it. I also have a serious sweet tooth - cupcakes, ice cream, cookies, cake, you name it. My other food that I eat at least every other day is popcorn. It is the greatest snack ever. End of story.

Have you ever won anything? What was it? Hmmm like awards or a random prize? Random prizes, not that I can think of. I guess I'm just not that lucky. I'm still holding out hope that one of these days I'll win the lottery or the HGTV Dream Home. Don't squash my dreams. It'll happen. Right.

What's the most exciting thing that's happened to you in the past year (or two)? Hmmm last week I just swam with manatees AND went to Harry Potter at Universal. I'd call that a pretty exciting week :)

What's one place you haven't visited but would like to? Gosh. There are so many. Greece is at the top of my list right now although that probably won't happen for awhile. Within the US, I would love to visit Cape Cod or some of the other charming little towns in the Northeast.

What's your favorite space (can be a place you like to go, an area in your house, etc)? The beach! It really doesn't even matter which beach. There is something so amazing and calming about talking a long walk on a beach that stretches on forever and ever.

If you had unlimited store credit to any one store, which store would it be and why? Target. You can get basically anything there. Groceries. Clothes. Home decor. Craft supplies. Things you never could have imagined you would need, but can't live without once you see them. You get the idea.

What's some good advice? I read something a few months ago about being "emotionally strong" that I think everyone could stand to remember. It said something to the effect of our emotions don't reflect reality. Rather, our emotions reflect the way we interpret reality. Understanding this gives us control of our emotions and, therefore, our lives. Positivity people!

Are you going to see him like that? You haven't seen this boy in awhile. You want him to think you're pretty don't you? Not that you aren't pretty, but I'm just saying a little makeup never hurts.
You're one of the poors until you start traveling with me.
I like Valentine's Day if for no other reason than all the cute pink decorations and the abundance of cakes and cookies and heart shaped desserts. Good thing I can eat them again! ;)

How do you all feel about flowers being sent to the office on V Day? Personally I can't stand it. If you want to bring me flowers when you run to the grocery store to pick up milk on some random Tuesday night to show you were thinking about me, I promise you will earn 100x more bonus points than if you send me flowers on February 14th. I would much prefer going out for margaritas and a giant bowl of queso than having some silly (often ugly) $40 flower bouquet delivered (in a cardboard box) to my work where they will wilt and die in a corner unnoticed because I'm too busy to even breathe.

Wednesday was just not my day. I went to the gym in the morning and forgot a bra (kinda important when you're wearing a thin, sort of see through, cheap shirt from Forever 21...even when you are as flat-chested as I am). Of course I didn't realize this until I had already showered and didn't have enough time to drive all the way back to my house so I had to wear a sweaty workout top underneath my work shirt. Awesome. I decided to cheer myself up by running to Starbucks for a quick latte, and what do you know. While I was waiting for my drink someone backed into my car because it was "so dark I didn't see your white car" because that makes sense. Direct quote. Then when I got to work the fire alarm went off and I had to stand out in the freezing cold for 15 minutes. Fantastic.

Okay. Enough ranting. On Saturday I went to Hobby Lobby three times. I also went once on Friday night so there's that...four times in two days. That might be a new record even for me. The reason for all these Hobby Lobby trips? Originally I wanted to find some fun things to go on the wall around my fauxidermy deer I got for Christmas, but I ending up finding something even better.

How fun are these letters? Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

My deer is still lonely. Anyone have any genius ideas as to what I
should put on the wall around him?! Poor guy is all by his lonesome.

So I had my first donut in over a month on Tuesday, and OH EM GEE. It was ah-maze-ing. Even though I'm a die hard Jayhawk, and I truly believe Lawrence, KS is infinitely better than Manhattan, KS, Varsity Donuts has a real good thing going on. I've tried several different kinds of their donuts now, and they never disappoint. If you should ever find yourself in the Little Apple go there. You won't be sorry.

Chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting,
strawberry fluff, and heart sprinkles. I die.

Now I've got donuts on the brain. I've been wanting to go to Voodoo Doughnut in Portland for years now, literally years. Guess what?! They just opened a location in Denver, and conveniently, I'll be in Colorado this weekend. I've already told Cory that we are stopping there on Sunday no matter what. Thank goodness he is a good sport, and really how can anyone say no to me AND donuts?! Together we're unstoppable! Now which one should I try?! Who's been?!

I'm not a big drinker, but I am really, really excited to drink Boulevard Chocolate Ale this weekend. I bought it last week, but have been saving it for my trip this weekend. I. Can't. Wait.
