FMS Photo a Day: January 12-18

Here is another week of pictures! Overall it was a pretty good week. I hosted my first KC Bachelor Watch Party Monday night, spent the night with my mom on Tuesday night, went and looked at my first house Wednesday night (that I absolutely fell in love with), and rounded out the week with a hair appointment (thank goodness I'm blonde again), and going away party for a friend & co-worker Friday.

January 12: Surprise - Molly surprised me with a 12 days of Jazzercise
pass. She really is the greatest!
January 13: Circle - my Valentine's Day wreath made out of a million tiny little
felt circles. It is probably a little early for Valentine's decorations but oh well!
January 14: Something Yellow - Fun fact - I hate yellow candy hearts.
January 15: An Ordinary Moment - filling up...again.
January 16: Two Things - well technically this is three things, but Greek
yogurt with two things, raspberries and walnuts. Yum!
January 17: Ready - early morning workout complete and ready to
start my day! Bring it on Thursday!
January 18: Shadow - killer high heel shadow at my hair appointment!
I've been house/dog/cat sitting for my parents in Topeka all weekend so I've been a total bum. I've been lounging around in lulu all weekend --real clothes are overrated-- even though the most exercise I've actually completed was a 2 mile walk yesterday and an 8 minute abs video straight out of the 80's today. I decided to give myself a break before I start half-marathon training with full force tomorrow. I did manage to complete one of the things on my 28 things before 28 list. I finally went and saw Les Miserables this weekend by myself, and I survived! Sometimes an uneventful weekend is so refreshing! Plus I have a feeling it is going to be needed with restaurant week dinners scheduled Thursday and Friday night and Party Arty on Saturday night this coming week. The potential of a super fun weekend is about the only thing that is going to get me through what promises to be an extremely long, stressful, busy week at work.

Just 5 days...I can make it!

FMS Photo a Day: January 5-11

Happy Saturday all! Here is my week in pictures:

January 5: Movement - exorcist cat? Kinda creepy...
January 6: Mine - look what I finally bought! Now I just need an
excuse to make something with it!
January 7: Street - Pretty lights at the Plaza on my way to watch the first
episode of the Bachelor with a few girlfriends. Yes I still watch it.
January 8: Something Beginning with 'T' - Tuesday morning Strictly Strength
class at Lifetime. So much easier to get it out of the way in the morning!
January 9: Paper - making homemade Valentine's this year
January 10: 1 o'clock - working away!
January 11: Water - not much ice to keep off of when it is 55 degrees in January!

FMS Photo a Day: December 29-January 4

All caught up!

December 29: Hot - skinny vanilla latte before Molly's wedding!
December 30: Something That Made You Smile This Year - I had the pleasure
of watching several of my good friends get married this year, and loved
spending so much time with my lovely Theta ladies.
December 31: Self-portrait - Despite having the stomach flu it was so
great to spend NYE with some of my besties in Dallas.
January 1: Today - while some people were recovering from hangovers, I
spent the day curled up on the couch recovering from the flu with my friends.
Perfect New Year's day.
January 2: New - the start of a new day heading back to KC after a fun trip.
January 3: Heart - some adorable Valentine's Day heart sprinkles I just
couldn't resist. Now what to bake...
January 4: The View From Here - back to work in my new leopard
booties from Payless.

FMS Photo a Day: December 22-28

Sorry I've gotten a little behind on posting my Photo a Day pictures. It was just one sickness after another while I was on vacation the past two weeks so there wasn't a whole lot of time for blogging. First I had the fever/sore throat/earache (chronicled in my gorilla cake post), and then I conveniently got the stomach flu almost immediately upon arrival in Dallas. It didn't make for a very fun NYE. Ringing in the new year with a flute of Sprite Zero just isn't quite the same as with a flute of champagne. At least I will start 2013 a few pounds lighter! ;)

December 22: Decoration - one of my favorite Christmas ornaments.
Let them eat cake!
December 23: Joy is... - my grandma's New Orleans barbecue shrimp! I
will try to get this recipe up on the blog soon because it is perfect for a
large dinner party. Sooooooooooooooooooooooo good!
December 24: Tradition/Something You Always Do - my sisters and I always
get to open one present each on Christmas Eve, and it is always fleece pjs :)
December 25: Lunchtime - my family always has a big breakfast/brunch
Christmas morning so I didn't have any food worth photographing at
lunchtime hence my collage of some of the awesome presents I got!
December 26: Mess - the start of Molly's gorilla groom's cake (pre-collapse)
December 27: How You Relax - Mistletoe Yankee candle, peanut m&ms,
and a glass of merlot is my recipe for total relaxation!
December 28: Cold - my cold weather outfit for Molly's bridal soiree

FMS Photo a Day: December 15-21

Another week, another round of pictures! I feel like I've been absent from the blog world recently, but between a crazy week at work, lots of Christmas parties, and even a blind sort of date (that went surprisingly well) there hasn't been much time to sit at home on the computer! Busy busy busy. I love the holidays!

With 13 days off work, and at least 5 days at home at my parent's house, I'm sure I will be able to come up with some interesting posts...or at least have some funny stories to share! Let me tell you, I've only been back here for about an hour and my mom and Mandy have already gotten into an argument. Apparently my cat's and Mandy's cat's sleeping arrangements are cause for a heated exchange. Someone even stormed out of the house. Oh the drama. At least I know the crazy cat lady gene runs in my family...

Anyways, without further ado, my week in pictures from December 15-21:

December 15: Outdoors - Perfect weather for a cozy sweater and boots.

December 16: Something You Made - One of the many plates of cookies
and rice krispie treats that Alex and I slaved away on all Sunday afternoon.

December 17: On the Floor - Evie is obsessed with playing with ribbon
while I am trying to wrap Christmas presents. So cute! I heart her!
December 18: Makes You Feel Merry - margaritas, Mexican food, and
meeting with my book club all made me feel very merry on Tuesday night!
December 19: Something Beginning with 'S' - nothing like a little early
morning stair master workout to get the blood flowing...and to work off
the previous night's Mexican and margaritas!
December 20: Weather - the first snowstorm of the season! It looked pretty,
but I wasn't a fan of being without power all day or my usual hour long
commute taking over two hours. No fun at all.
December 21: Tree - the pretty Christmas tree at my parent's house.
Have I mentioned that I LOVE Christmas?!?

FMS Photo a Day: December 8-14

Another week in pictures! If you like what you see, and want to see my other pictures, you can follow me on Instagram by clicking right here.

December 8: Someone You Love - Whilst everyone else is posting pictures
of their boyfriends, girlfriends, fiances, husbands, wives, and what-have-you,
don't mind me. Crazy Cat Lady right here...and proud!

December 9: Out + About - Johnna's annual cookie/ornament exchange party.
There were so many amazing treats, and cute ornaments! I picked the
snowman, but then it was stolen by Alex so I ended up with the super cute shoe!

December 10: Under - love my little coffee/tea cup hanger under my cabinets.
I especially love it right now since it is spruced up with some cute X-mas ornaments.

December 11: Sweet - Normally I would have a picture of a cookie or cupcake,
or some other delicious baked good when given the opportunity, but remember
I'm trying to be healthy for the next three weeks!?! So instead you get a
picture of Greek yogurt, granola, blueberries, and walnuts. Borrrrrring.

December 12: Hat - Yes this is really a hat that was part of the Fall 2011
Cold Weather assortment at Payless.

December 13: Lights - Cute lights outside of SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza where
I had an early birthday dinner with my friends Mandy and Alex. Yum!
December 14: Something Green - Chicken Thai Noodle salad at Yard House
at my birthday/holiday lunch with my amazing co-workers. Sorry I'm obsessed
with food (hence the overload of food pictures this week).

FMS Photo a Day: December 1-7

Who made it through the first week of Fatmumslim's December Photo a Day Challenge with me? I've gotta be honest I cheated slightly one day. I was hunkered down inside work all day on Thursday so I used a picture I had taken a few months ago for the From Where You Live/Your Country prompt. I figured people would rather see a pretty picture of the Kansas sky instead of my boring little cube.  At least I posted a picture that day so I'm counting it! :)

Here are my pictures from the past week:

December 1: 8 o'clock - Seamus was a good sport and went with
me to the Luminary Walk at the Overland Park Arboretum.
December 2: Peace - I had a hard time thinking of something for this prompt.
I was originally going to take a picture of an angel ornament on my tree, but
there was a beautiful sunset Sunday night so I snapped a pic of that instead!
December 3: Something You Held - I was planning on having a productive
night after work on Monday wrapping all the presents I'd bought so far.
Unfortunately I bought everything except for tape. Fail.
December 4: Black + White - This was my attempt at being artsy haha. I joined
a book club with some of my girlfriends at work, and we had our December
meeting/happy hour on Tuesday to discuss The Friday Night Knitting Club.
December 5: Looking Up - I spent the night at my parent's house on
Wednesday night so I could use the mixer to bake some cupcakes for a
work Christmas party. I love seeing these two cuties when I'm home!
December 6: From Where You Live/Your Country - Here is my cheater
picture. At least it is pretty right?!?
December 7: Stars - I started baking sugar cookies for my friend Johnna's
annual cookie and ornament exchange party she is hosting on Sunday. Blog
post on decorating with royal icing coming later this week ;)

So there is my week in pictures! I also discovered a pretty fun free iPhone app this week for displaying photos a day in a calendar format called Project 365. I wish I had found this app several months ago because it is going to take a while to go back and add all my pictures. Maybe I'll save that project for a rainy day. Hope everyone is having fun with this challenge. Looks like there are some good prompts for this coming week!

Fatmumslim's December Photo A Day Challenge

If you've read my first blog post then you already know I am obsessed with Instagram. Since May I've been participating in Fatmumslim's Photo A Day Challenge which has heavily influenced my growing Instagram obsession. So here is how it works...every month she creates a list of daily topics. You check the prompt each day, and take a picture that corresponds with that topic. Easy right? For example, the prompts for November 22-25 were grateful, black, a sound you heard, and sky. Here are the photos I took:

Grateful - for my sisters, Black - sweater and leggings, A Sound You Heard - Mandy
playing guitar, Sky - pretty blue sky outside of Trader Joe's on my grocery trip

I love doing this challenge because it gives you a chance to be creative each and every day, and it really makes you aware of your surroundings. I'm constantly on the hunt for a great picture! Now if only I had a DSRL camera. Sigh. A girl can dream.

After you take the picture, you can share it on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook...wherever your heart desires. If you share it on Instagram/Twitter/Pinterest make sure to include the hashtag #FMSphotoaday. The best part though? If you search for the hashtag you can see how people all over the world interpreted the prompt. It is super addicting. So without further ado, here are the December prompts:

For more details on the Photo a Day Challenge be sure to visit Fatmumslim's blog here.

Now....who wants to play along? I'll start posting my photos on here each week, but be sure to also follow me on Instagram! Can't wait to see everyone's photos!
